Abstract: There is evidence that video edition by the students can contribute to the collaborative knowledge building. This paper describes the results of an exploratory study on the potential of video edition and interaction with a public display as a way to promote thinking about threshold concepts and the collaborative construction of knowledge. We chose a mixed methods approach involving the collection of quantitative and qualitative data through a process that comprised three steps. The first step was the collection of threshold concepts with a group of teachers from STEM areas. In the second we promote creative video edition with students. In the third the sharing of videos on a public screen located within the school. Data analysis suggests that the creative video edition by the students motivates them to work together and that the understanding of threshold concepts is enhanced by their self-involvement. The sharing of videos on public display also promoted the curiosity of the school community regarding the content of the videos. The teachers' reflection on the difficulties usually found in theirs students, allowed to think about the causes and ways to help students understand complex concepts.
